Coragh county leitrim 1928

I guess this might be regarded as a concept album of sorts.

"Inspired by a short childhood memoir my father wrote before he died, I have attempted to capture the essence of his life, through his eyes.

We all have a spiritual connection to the land deep inside us. Coragh was the homeland that created a yearning within my Dad."

"The album journeys through my father’s early memories, and then, the almost inevitable transition from countryside to city life, with all its challenges and joys."

An excerpt from the diary that inspired the song, Sámh.

Sámh

Bitter the watercress, by the spring well,

Silver the morning dew, speckled on your lips.

Dawn bathes the meadowlands silently blue

Warms you with golden light, raggle taggle curls

Sámh, Sámh.

Somewhere the gentry feast, far from this land, Ships leave from every port, full of grain and meat. What price your simple life, farming the land, Kinsfolk like Autumn leaves rotting in the fields.

Sámh, Sámh.
